Launch of the Kurilpa Mural

16 June, 2008

The arches under West End’s William Jolly Bridge are the new home to the recently completed collaborative indigenous mural; this indigenous mural is a celebration of the culture and the progress of Kurilpa.

“I am delighted to invite the community to take part in the official opening of the mural this Sunday 22 June, at 10 am, followed by light refreshments…the artwork of this mural is about recognising Kurilpa Point as an important place for Indigenous people” Cr Abrahams has said.

Councilor Helen Abrahams is delighted that the long awaited mural which features artwork from local artists has been completed and installed under the bridge, all with the help of Dutton Park Ward Parks Trust Fund who have funded this project.

All of the community is invited to come along and celebrate the work of local artists such as, Gordon Hookey, Debbie Taylor, Laurie Nilsen, Jenny Pineapple and others that have worked collaboratively on the mural. Furthermore featuring on the day will be the sounds and voices of Black Velvet, Musgrave Murris, and the Songlines Choir.
