Its our plan so get involved
Good on South East Advertiser for urging locals to read and comment on the Woolloongabba Plan.
The community has waited for years for this plan and now is our opportunity to have a say.
I encourage people to look at the plan, think about what it means for them, and submit direct, honest comments. Certainly, my comments were.
There are good things in this plan. It aims to give a ‘heart’ or ‘retail hub’ in Woolloongabba. It preserves the heritage building along Logan Road while permitting higher buildings. It will give this area of the city a needed lift.
As my comments in last week’s article make clear, I am concerned about building designs and how sustainable development will be delivered. Also, I’m not sure it’s possible to make existing footpath space into tree-lined pedestrian boulevards.
Locals have a right to question Council and how they will deliver their planning promises.
