Even though Brisbane residents have been dubbed the world’s best water savers, Council will be making sure information is available for residents keen to know how to save even more water heading into level six water restrictions.
Councillor Helen Abrahams said Council was producing new flyers for residents eager to learn how to read their water meters and detect leaks on their properties.
“Under level six water restrictions, it’s important Council does all we can to assist residents with saving as much water as possible,” Cr Abrahams said.
“We’ve already seen how good at saving water Brisbane residents are – we can’t drop the ball now.
“That’s why we’re producing easy to read materials to show residents how to read their water meters.
“Water meters around Brisbane vary – and they can be quite tricky to read if you’ve never been shown. This new flyer will take the confusion out of reading water meters.”
Cr Abrahams said residents would also be able to access information on detecting leaks on their properties.
“We’ve found that those residents identified as high water users have, in 50 per cent of cases, had leaks on their properties,” Cr Abrahams said.
“This information will let residents know whose responsibility it is to have leaks fixed and the potential damage a leak can cause.”
