Local Councillor Helen Abrahams will deliver $450,000 for lighting of TJ Doyle Memorial Drive from Princess Street to the Green Bridge “Kiss & Walk” drop off area in Dutton Park.
“Funding for lighting was not in the original Green Bridge project, but after 12 months of lobbying, I am delighted that it will be,” she said.
Civic Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal to install and replace lighting along the shared cycle pathway from Princess Street to the bridge’s pedestrian entry point - the “Kiss & Walk” - at Dutton Park Place.
The first stage of lighting to be installed from the “Kiss & Walk” at Dutton Park Place to the Dutton Park ferry car park is scheduled to be delivered before Christmas.
The lighting for the pathway between the ferry car park and the South Brisbane Cemetery is set to be finished early next year.
The University of Queensland’s Orientation Week (19 February) is scheduled as the deadline for lighting through to Princess Street in Dutton Park.
