Spring Clean for Boundary Street

22 October, 2007

West End’s Boundary Street footpath will be scrubbed clean with a high-pressure sustainable water blaster, local Councillor (Dutton Park) Helen Abrahams said.

Boundary Street between Melbourne and Vulture Streets and Vulture Street between Boundary and Thomas Street will be cleaned after hours for the next two weeks.

“The colour of the brick pavers will be found again – the ingrained dirt, chewing gum and stains around the rubbish bins will be removed in this process,” Cr Abrahams said.

The Enviroblaster uses 80% less water than other water cleaning processes, as it collects and recycles the water by catching it before it flows to the stormwater drain.

“The footpaths in Boundary Street can be pretty grubby when one really looks at them – so it was not surprising that all shop owners were delighted to hear of this initiative.

“Not one shop said they did not want it!

“I would now call on all residents and customers to help out and also do the right thing once the ‘spring clean’ is done - by putting cigarette butts in bins and picking up their litter,” she said.
