Local residents who would like to have their say on how our city should act on Climate Change and Peak Oil are invited to attend a free local community forum on Wednesday, June 27.
“Local residents in my ward are particularly passionate about the issues of Climate Change and Peak Oil - I would really welcome their input into how Brisbane should address this important issue,” local Councillor (Dutton Park Ward) Helen Abrahams said.
“For example - the recently formed “Climate Action Fairfield” group was organised by engaged local residents who were determined to do more,” she said.
“I ask anyone in the community who would like to know more about Climate Change, and what you can do, to come along.
“I’d also love to hear from residents who are already engaged and informed on the issues of Climate Change and Peak Oil.
A member of Council’s independent Climate Change and Energy Taskforce, Mr Scott Losee, will give a presentation on Council’s “Plan for Action on Climate Change and Energy”.
“He will also give advice on what practical measure we need to take now for Brisbane to be Carbon Neutral by 2026, to meet our city’s vision,” Cr Abrahams said.
The “Plan for Action” is now online at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/climatechange and community feedback is sought by the closing date of June 30.
The forum will be held at St Ita’s School Hall, Riverview Street, Dutton Park, on Wednesday, 27 June at 7:30pm.
