The search is on for Brisbane's most talented seniors, with auditions for the 'Seniors Superstar' 2007 talent quest set for today (16 May) at City Hall.
Local Councillor (Dutton Park) Helen Abrahams said the 'Seniors' Superstar' competition - a Brisbane City Council initiative - encouraged the older members of the community join in on the fun and show Brisbane how much talent they have.
"I’m really looking forward to see them dust off their dancing shoes, get out their instruments and tune their vocal chords in the Seniors' Superstar competition," Cr Abrahams said.
"It's a terrific opportunity for those seniors who would rather dazzle Brisbane, than put their feet up and read a book."
Talents on show range from singing and dancing, to playing a musical instrument, juggling, or even presenting a comedy sketch.
Last year more than 100 seniors took part in the city-wide competition. Participants can be solo acts, duos or groups and must reside with Brisbane City Council boundaries.
"Last year seniors from age 50 to 99 year participated in the talent quest, so I look forward to what surprises the seniors have in store this year," Cr Abrahams said.
Following today’s City Hall auditions, successful participants take part in a heat closer to their home during June, July or August, with the 'Seniors' Superstar' Grand Final scheduled for Saturday 18 August at City Hall.
