Warning on Parking Fines

12 March, 2007

The Dutton Park Residential Parking Scheme will be enforced from Monday 19th March, Dutton Park Ward Councillor Helen Abrahams said.

“I am very keen to advise all residents so they do not get a parking fine,” Councillor Abrahams said.

“I am sure residents in Dutton Park Ward already pay enough to Council in rates without adding to Council’s revenue through parking fines.

“Council agreed to an amnesty period of several weeks - this time is now up and the parking inspectors will start issuing fines on Monday.

‘I am advising students and other residents so they are not tempted to chance parking all day in a two-hour area.

‘I am also concerned that many residents who are parking in the street are not displaying their residential parking permit on the dashboard.

“The fines will apply to everyone who does not have a permit – this includes residents, students and staff of the Princess Alexandra Hospital,” she said.

“So if residents do not have a permit, they need to call the Contact Centre on 3403 8888 as soon as possible.  Permits will take 2 to 14 days to process.

“If a resident is fined but they can show they have applied for a permit, it may be grounds for waiving the fine.
