The Gabba Ward Councillor Helen Abrahams is holding a kerbside breakfast for cyclists on Wednesday 30 June to celebrate the new contraflow bikelane in Thorn Lane, Kangaroo Point.
East Brisbane BUG (Bike Users Group) and the CBD BUG groups will be part of the celebratory breakfast.
“I invite cyclists to stop and enjoy a free light breakfast between 7.30am-8.30am and let me know about their ideas for our next project to improve safety for cyclists.”
The contraflow bike lane was the solution in preventing cyclists meeting vehicles head on as they travelled in the opposite direction.
Thorn Street and Thorn Lane are part of a well used bike link from the eastern suburbs to the CBD, so safety for both cyclists and drivers was paramount.
