Passionate local Fairfield residents will speak on Thursday alongside an Al Gore Champion at the free Climate Change Roadshow, local Councillor Helen Abrahams said today.
Trevor and Joy Acfield plan to form a Fairfield Climate Change Group and they will share their vision with local residents from Yeronga, Annerley and Fairfield on March 1 and on March 16.
“I welcome anyone to the road show who wants to know more about Climate Change, as well as those people who are determined to do something,” Cr Abrahams said.
At the first road show, Al Gore Ambassador Matthew Gray will present an introduction to Climate Change, which will include Brisbane-specific information.
“This session is ideal for people who have not seen An Inconvenient Truth,” Cr Abrahams said.
Ruth Rosenhek from the Rainforest Information Centre will run an interactive session at the second road show (March 16) on what people can do to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in their homes and during their daily lives.
“Many local residents have asked me about what they can be doing. They realise we all have to change our way of consuming the resources of our planet,” Cr Abrahams said.
“I believe if residents work together as a group with a common interest – we will find it easier to make the changes.
“I am delighted to be able to hold these free information nights at the Somerville House Water Sport Centre, Brisbane Corso, Yeronga,” she said.
