Now is the time to return library books and help others

07 June, 2010

Councillor Helen Abrahams, The Gabba Ward advises anyone who has an overdue library book or unpaid library fine for late returns to take advantage of Council’s amnesty on fines in June.

Instead of paying a fine, library users can pay by giving a can of tinned food to help those in need.  Just take your library card and food donation in to any one of Council’s libraries to have your overdue library fines waived.

“This is a great initiative as individuals can save dollars while the food assists families who are finding it hard to make ends meet” said Cr Abrahams.

The food is donated to Food Bank for distribution to those in need this winter.

The amnesty goes till the end of June, 2010.
