Parking fines the new litter

08 March, 2010

Councillor Helen Abrahams, The Gabba Ward, found four parking tickets in the mud along a 200 metre stretch of Norman Creek on Clean Up Australia Day site at Moorhen Flats, Norman Creek.

“I have participated in many Clean Up Australia Days but this is the first one where parking infringement notices are been picked up as litter” said Helen Abrahams

The four tickets were spread out along the bank at the Norman Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee’s site near Deshon Street, Woolloongabba.

“It is a sign that Council is issuing many more parking tickets and people are tossing them into the gutters or waterways” said Helen

“They were covered with mud but clearly identifiable as a parking infringement notice”

“Luckily the printing with the details of the fine has washed off so the vehicle can not be identified or someone might be getting a nasty surprise” said Helen.
