40 kph for Boundary Street

07 February, 2010

Boundary Street, West End will become a 40 kph speed zone in a matter of weeks following strong support for the lower speed by local traders.

“Council’s proposal for 40 kph speed limits in suburban shopping strips was subject to support from local traders” said Cr Abrahams

A survey was conducted last year. I am sure the follow up by myself and West End Traders Association President Peter Marinelli made sure as many traders as possible got their survey forms in by the due date.

“The signs are being produced and they should be in place in three weeks time”

“It is a great outcome” said Cr Abrahams

“The lower speed zone will improve the safety for all road users as well as improve the general ambience in the street by reducing noise and vehicle emissions “ said Cr Abrahams.

“it is a great way to retain the village atmosphere of Boundary Street’ said Helen
