The South Brisbane and West End communities are desperate to engage with Council on the planning decisions which Campbell Newman is making for their local area. So far, their requests for additional information have fallen on deaf ears.
On behalf of the local community, I have emailed Planning Chair Cr Amanda Cooper on nine separate occasions requesting access to the background studies supporting the 30 storey building in South Brisbane and West End. To date, I have received no response or acknowledgement to the nine separate email requests sent.
I now publically request a copy of the three background studies for the South Brisbane Riverside Renewal Strategy so that the local community may review the proposal for more than 80,000 additional residents and workers in the West End peninsula.
Cr Newman and Cr Cooper claim they consult with the community. Actions, being the release of the documents, speak louder than words. Empty consultation promises is all the community has received to date.
