The Gabba Ward Office to move

Council’s 2009-10 budget allocated funds to relocate The Gabba Ward Office.

It is one of four Ward Offices to be relocated this financial year. The need for new Ward offices is due to the change in Ward boundaries in 2008.

“The current Ward office, on Old Cleveland Road, Greenslopes is on the most southern boundary of The Gabba Ward” said Helen Abrahams

“This makes it difficult for residents in Kangaroo Point and the West End peninsula to visit their elected representative” said Helen

“Currently, the majority of people visiting the Ward Office live in another Ward. This leads to considerable confusion and frustrations as residents wish to talk to their elected representative when they have gone to the trouble to come to the Ward office” said Cr Abrahams

“I believe the preferred location would be near the Mater Bus Station as this is the most central location of The Gabba Ward. It would be convenient for residents in East Brisbane and Coorparoo to travel by bus to the Ward Office” said Councillor Abrahams

“The aim of the relocation is so, as the local Councillor, I can offer the best service to the residents of The Gabba Ward’ Cr Abrahams.

“I welcome this announcement, as I am very serious about being accessible to local residents’ said Helen

The Gabba Ward includes the suburbs of West End, Highgate Hill, Dutton Park, South Brisbane, Woolloongabba, Kangaroo Point, East Brisbane, Coorparoo and seven streets in Greenslopes.
