Inner South East Suburbs miss out in Council’s Budget

25 June, 2009

In spite of a $117 million increase in expenditure in Council’s 2009-10 budget, the inner south eastern suburbs will see only a few works projects in their local area.

$342 000 will deliver four projects in the suburb of East Brisbane being two new footpaths, one footpath maintenance and $190 repairs to the Mowbray Park pontoon.

Only $167 000 is scheduled for works projects in area of Coorparoo in The Gabba Ward. $112 000 will be spent on three footpaths while $55 000 will upgrade the dog off leash area in Wembley Park near Jackson Street.

“While these projects are welcome, I know many residents in these suburbs will be disappointed that my representation for improvements to their footpaths were not funded” said Cr Abrahams
