Mr Todd Levi’s address in the Council Chamber was so compelling that Council will install a new dog off leash area at Hill End.
“While the residents will not get the unfenced dog off leash area they requested, they have had a real win.” Cr Abrahams said.
“Todd’s address about the strong community of dog owners who have been meeting in the park at Hill End for more than 7 years, led the Lord Mayor to overturn the Families & Community Services Committee’s decision, made only four hours earlier, to refuse the petition for an unfenced dog off leash area.
“I am confident that the new dog off leash area will be partially fenced as it is removed from the rest of the users of Hill End parkland’ said Cr Abrahams
“It is a great win for these local residents. My role was to make sure they voices were heard”
“I believe this is a first time that a Committee decision has been overturned following local residents speaking out in Council Chamber” said Cr Abrahams
“It sets a precedent, in my opinion.”
