More buses for 199 route

Six more trips a day will be added to the 199 bus route from the 23rd February 2009.
Four additional trips in the morning will give a 5 minutely bus service between 7.30 am and 8.40 am. The additional afternoon trips will mean 5 minutely service from 4.15 pm to 5.35 pm.
The demand for more buses on this route just does not stop. I am delighted there will be a five minutely service for morning and afternoon peak hours’ said Cr Abrahams
The last Bureau of Statistic figures show that 16% of WestEnders catch the bus to work compared to 7.6% of Brisbane residents.
It is no wonder that the number of buses needs to increase to meet this demand” said Cr Abrahams
“I would encourage any resident who could use this bus to go to work to do so as I will continue to lobby for more buses and more trips to ensure no-one is left behind at a bus stop” said Cr Abrahams
“The Bureau of Statistic figures also showed that residents of West End are very environmentally responsible as a further 17.3% either walk or cycle to work compared to 5.4% of Brisbane residents” said Cr Abrahams
