I welcome the decision for ABC’s headquarters to move to SouthBank. The new site places them in the dynamic multi-media and cultural hub of Brisbane. The ABC will be a stimulus for continued growth of this creative industry precinct.
I am astounded by the two-faced hypocrisy of Cr Cooper and the Lord Mayor. They are objecting to a 3 – 4 storey building because it will lead to traffic congestion and cut access to the River. At the same time, they are planning for 30 storey skyscrapers just two blocks away in the Peel Street area and high rise units along the river in South Brisbane and West End.
More than 7000 new residents are predicted in these skyscrapers with thousands of cars and creating a wall of buildings along the River. How can that be contrasted with one four storey building?
