The much-anticipated Green Bridge will be officially opened on Sunday 17 December from 10am to 1pm.
“I realise that the week before Christmas is a busy time, and I feel it is important to let residents know of the opening well ahead of time, so they can plan to be free to come to the opening,” Councillor Helen Abrahams (Dutton Park) said.
The opening will see a change in name from the Green Bridge Project to the Eleanor Schonell Bridge.
“Residents from Dutton Park will cross over to the mid-point of the bridge to meet residents from St Lucia as part of the symbolic linking of the two communities,” Cr Abrahams said.
“There will be plenty of activities on both side of the bridge.
“And the view from the bridge will be spectacular,” she said.
“This is the opportunity for everyone to walk the bridge as many times as you like before the bus services start running.”
The first bus service will operate on the bridge on Monday, 18 December.
