Opening of Kurilpa Bridge

The Premier Anna Bligh, accompanied by Minister Robert Schwarten and Grace Grace, Cr Hinchliffe and myself, opened the Kurilpa Bridge. While the Premier thinks it looks like a trawling vessel, there was a range of ideas.

The bridge was voted a success by the thousands of people who walked the bridge. I know I shall look forward to riding across it when en route to the CBD.

Architect Michael Raynor was understandable proud of his design but left it to others to comment on what the bridge looked like.  click here  for more photos

The Brisbane Writers Stories about Brisbane

Therese Collie and Tim Mullooly had children in the front row entranced by their excerpts from Brisbane Writers Stories about Brisbane.

Hats, boas and coats were donned to take the audience back in time to the days of the convicts, the Second World War and then Coolangatta was the only place to be seen.

This performance was held at the Senior Citizen’s Hall, Boundary Street and it was funded by The Gabba Ward’s allocation of the Lord Mayor Suburban Initiative grants. You can see the show in the CBD Mall lunch time this week.
