Inner City run maps
As a beginner runner, I was delighted to find these maps with distances on Council's website. I thought that you to might wish to refer to them. I am aware that some of the markers were damaged in the flood and I shall chase up to see if they are all replaced. Have fun on your runs.

Mowbray Park, East Brisbane
There was $129,000 allocated for the upgrade of the play equipment at Mowbray Park. I expect the works to start soon. The nautical theme is retained for the new equipment.

The Brisbane Skate Cartel celebrated 17 years of skating at Paddingtion on Sunday 13 February but there was a serious message to the day. Brisbane was leading the way with skate facilities 15 years ago but now many of the skate parks are outdated and in poor condition.
The Brisbane Skate Cartel worked into the night to restore and surfaces for the day of competition.
It is just amazing to see the skillful skaters. They are seriously fit and have tremendous determination to land the trick to win the competition. The day was part of Council's Museum's The Stoke display.
Helen Abrahams with Annie TeWhui, Project manager the Museum's skate exhibition, The Stoke, and the numbers and activity was huge on the day.
Brisbane Road Runners
Every second Sunday at 6 am, Riverside Drive becomes a running track for members of Brisbane Road Runners. There are short courses of 2 km or 5 km and a longer one for the serious runners. The club is now able to use the full course once again.
The general mood of the day is one of friendship and people just coming for the run. If you are interested in joining or just coming for a run, go to the website brisbaneroadrunners.org

Mr Louis Toumbas, members of the Olympic Football Club, Jim Bellas from Queensland Police Service conducted the inaugural Greek African Multi Cultural Fair and soccer tournment on Sunday 7th November.
It was a great day, and the final soccer game was excellent soccer as the teams were evenly matched. It was a goalie's game finalised with a penalty shooter out that the African team won.
Congratulations to everyone involved and all who attended the day.

Alicia Lane starts painting the traffic signal box
The traffic light box on the corner of Boundary Street and Vulture Street , West End must have the highest visibility of all signal boxes outside the CBD.
Cr Abrahams found Alicia Lane painting this signal box on Tuesday 20 April at 9.30am. By five oclock the box was a brilliant red sun. Alicia, a jewellery student, painted this box ten years ago. Now it is time for a new "snaphot of West End" . So keep an eye out for the new art work.

St Josephs is an Active School
One of Council's most successful projects is the Active School Progam.
The results of change in travel patterns at the schools participating in this program this year are shown below.
The results for St Joesph's School are fabulous as the children and parents are walking, riding bikes and scooters on the footpaths of some of our City's busiest streets. There is strong support for this program in the school and Principal Michael O'Sullivan is one of the strongest advocates.
Walk againt Warming Rally
I was one of 2,000 people who rallied on Saturday 12 Dec to show support for action on Climate Change. People from the Pacific Island nations were very vocal in their call for action.
The event was organised by Queensland Conservation Council and Coleman ... form Greenfest. This meant the day was a combination of music and political speeches. This event was put on without any Government funding.
