New requirements for cat and dog owners

From 1 July 2009, Queensland Government has passed new requirements
for cat and dog owners.

Brisbane City Council is responsible for administering the new requirements, including mandatory:

• Registration of cats
• Microchipping of cats and dogs when sold (seller responsibility)
• Microchipping of cats and dogs when given away
  (responsibility on the person giving away the animal)
• Microchipping of cats and dogs before reaching the age of 12 weeks
• Tattooing of cats and dogs at the time of desexing
